When designing web pages on my Mac, I am often in need of a magnifying glass to see every single pixel in detail. Solution? Meet Pixie.

This nifty little programm can by found in the Mac OS X Developer Tools. Pixie will magnify a portion of your screen, and you can choose from 7 different zoom levels. From 400% and upward it will display a grid, which makes counting pixels very easy. No more excuses for not making pixel perfect design.

If you don’t want to install the whole developer tools package, you can use Pacifist to extract the Pixie.app only.

Combined with Free Ruler and Apple’s own DigitalColor Meter (found in the Utilities folder), I now have a nice little toolbox for measuring every distance, pixel and color on my screen in detail.
